We are a medium sized electronics distributor located in Western NY State. We had been using an iSeries in its various forms for over 15 years, still running in the S36 environment. Whenever we were asked to provide data from our system to outside companies it was always a major deal because of the data being stored on our system in flat files. Ad-hoc reporting and using 3rd party software for business intelligence was not an option. We had state of the art computer hardware but were stuck in the 1980’s because of our software and database.
In 2007 our company contacted MacLeod Computer Consulting for a quote on converting our S/36 environment RPG36 code & database to Native 400. The quote was reasonable and the project started in early 2008. The results upon the completion of the project were nothing short of amazing. There was NO down time at all on “go-live” week. I am a programmer myself and worked day to day directly with the team doing the conversion. They are some of the best iSeries developers I have worked with. We can now take full advantage of all the iSeries has to offer.
